Trainings on business planning

In order to facilitate networking and competency building of women start-up entrepreneurs in North and South Mitrovica within the EU-funded project “Supportive business environment for women start-ups in North and South Mitrovicë/a”, a series of trainings on business planning, financial management, mobilization of funds, marketing and sales will be organized and performed. Lecturing will be performed by the prominent experts on areas in country and/or abroad.

Trainings on business planning of women start-ups/entrepreneurs will contain the following topics:

  • Planning production and services
  • Terms of Reference
  • Assessing the environments
  • Identify the key steps of the business planning process
  • Preparing and developing your business plans for future challenges
  • Understanding and capitalising on competitive advantages
  • Developing business relations

Trainings on financial

Trainings on financial management know-how for women start-ups/entrepreneurs should contain the following topics:

  • Understanding financial planning and budgeting
  • Preparing, revising and finalizing the budget
  • Legal aspects of accounting for entrepreneurs in Kosovo
  • Understanding the accounting equation and the relationship among its components
  • Learning how various business transactions affect financial statement
  • Describe the purpose of and terminology associated with the following financial statements: income statement or profit and loss statement (P&L), balance sheet, statement of retained earnings and cash flow statement
  • Understanding expenses and forecasting
  • Introduction to fixed asset management
  • Analysing fixed assets in financial statements
  • Fixed asset inventory and inventory reconciliation
  • Integrating budgeting, planning and forecasting
  • Material and cost of sales

Sales expenses

Sales expenses:

  • Minimizing supplier costs
  • Variance analysis for material, labour and overhead variances
  • Relating cost accounting to financial accounting and the planning and control process
  • Product costing systems and accounting

Trainings on marketing and sales for women start-ups/entrepreneurs should contain the following topics:

  • Understanding basic principles of marketing
  • The nature and concept of marketing in a competitive environment
  • Elements of marketing mix
  • Segmentation, targeting and positioning strategies
  • Managing pricing and pricing strategies
  • Marketing in a digital world
  • Apply the techniques used in assessing market opportunities
  • Developing marketing and sale strategies


Trainings on mobilization

Trainings on mobilization of funds for women start-ups/entrepreneurs should contain the following topics:

  • Determining needs for funding of the company
  • Discovering funding opportunities and identifying potential sources of funds:
    • Revenues from earned income
    • Banks
    • Micro-finance institutions
    • Governmental support
    • International donors
  • Researching the policies, programmes, priorities and procedures of potential donors
  • Initial contact with potential donors to outline the needs for financial assistance
  • Importance and benefits of non-financial support and technical assistance
  • Deciding which way to go: matching the opportunities with the needs
  • Formal submission of the request for assistance
  • Managing partnership relations with donors
